3 photograph albums containing a total of 245 black and white photographs of Mexico. 243 of those photographs are 8" x 10" and glued directly to pages of albums. The remaining 2 photographs are 6" x 5" and are laid in. Album #1. 10 1/4" x 13" in embossed brown leather-covered boards with title (Photographs) in gilt and tied at spine with cord. Album #1 contains 93 - 8" x 10" black and white photographs glued directly to each page, each annotated in white ink beside or below each photo. Written on a small sheet of blue paper that was then taped to the front cover is, "1940s & 1950s. Grandpa Redfox w/his friends of many years The Morales family in Mexico City. Grandpa use to go to Mexico City every 2 years & would stay for months. He spoke Spanish beautifully." Photographs include scenes from Guadalajara, Zopapan, Experencia, Tlaquepaque, Chapala, and Mazatlan. Photographs include pictures of Central Park Guadalajara, Cathedral of Guadalajara, old horse taxis around the railway in Guadalajara, view of the arch from Avendia Vallata in Guadalajara, residence on January Ave, Mission in Guadalajara, street scenes, market scenes, may photos of locals of Guadalajara, Charcoal Station in Guadalajara, Church Celebration Easter 1947 in Guadalajara, important buildings, monuments, stores, factories, parks in Guadalajara, workers San Padro, Lake Chapala, Mazatlan Cathedral, local scenery in Mazatlan, coconut grove scenes with Indian Girls, Indian section of Mazatlan, charcoal peddler, bring in sharks on the Beach Mazatlan, looking across bay Mazatlan, Light House Point Mazatlan, view of Three Sisters Islands in Mazatlan, Light House Hill at the Entrance Mazatlan Harbor, etc. A few page edges are chipped. Photographs are fine though by enlarging some of the images/details are not as crisp and clean. White ink on a few of the descriptions has smeared. Covers are worn at corners. Still very good. Album #2. 10 1/4" x 13" in brown vinyl-covered boards with title (Photograph Album) in gilt and tied at spine with cord that is fraying. Album #2 contains 74 - 8" x 10" black and white photographs glued directly to each page. Several pages have descriptions written in pencil, which at times is difficult, but not impossible to read. Photographs include several pictures of locals, group shots of families, pyramids of Tula, Toltec Warrior, important buildings, cathedrals, missions, Acapulco views, fort at Acapulco, fish sales in Acapulco, Diving Rock in Acapulco, homes, buildings, Caleta Beach in Acapulco, wreck of a carrier in the Bay of Acapulco, Mazatlan, Zapopan, scenes in Guadalajara, several Labor Day Parade scenes in Guadalajara, Juarez Avenue in Guadalajara, market scenes showing pottery and family making, painting and selling pottery, several scenic view of cities listed above, etc. Laid in are 2 smaller photographs of the family sitting around the table at dinnertime. Several pages are chipped at corners. Photographs are fine though by enlarging some of the images/details are not as crisp and clean. Covers are worn at corners, rear cover is disbound and front cover is cracking at spine. Good. Album #3. 10 1/4" x 13" in brown vinyl-covered boards with title (Photograph Album) in gilt. Album is held together using wire twist ties at spine. Album #3 contains 76 - 8" x 10" black and white photographs glued directly to each page. Several pages have descriptions written in white pencil, which at times is difficult to decipher. Photographs include Chapultepec Park in Mexico City, Chapultepec Castle top of the hill, Paseo de la Reforma Blvd, view from The National Lottery Building Mexico City, picture with Fernando Carderon 12-23-47 top Lottery Building, The National Palace, Grand Cathedral, various scenes of the Business Center of Mexico City, Post Office, Benito Juarez Day Celebration pictures, cemetery near the Church of Guadalupe, Church of Guadalupe 1947, Teotihuacan Pyramids scenes, group family photographs, mission near Tepoztlan Mexico, Weber Family Picnic 1-15-50, family pictures In the Canyons of Contreras, old mission in Puebla Mexico, scenes in Puebla, Grand Cathedral of Puebla, pictures of the Morales family, scenes in Cuernavaca Mexico, Palace of Cortes in Cuernavaca, Mission Church in Cuernavaca, etc. Photographs are fine though by enlarging some of the images, details are not as crisp and clean. Pages throughout chipped at all edges and are fragile. Cover boards are disbound though the front cover has been reattached using cellophane tape. Rubbing to corners. Good. This is a rare collection of life in Mexico during the 1940s and 50s.
