Publication: Salt Lake City: Salt Lake Tribune Publishing Company, 1910,
Second edition. 8vo. Pictorial wrappers, 59 pp., introduction, illustrated, plates, portraits. The second edition is considered to be the "best edition," as it corrects statements made in the first edition published earlier in the same year, and provides the complete details of John Doyle Lee's second trial. The first trial had seven Mormons and five Gentiles on the jury, and Lee was acquitted of any wrong doing by a verdict of seven to five. There was such a hue and cry at the results of this verdict by citizens that the leaders of the Mormon community realized that justice must be served and Lee was tried for the second time. The results of that trial and John Lee's execution are fully covered in this booklet. Wear to corners and spine of wrappers. Wrappers are loosely held by one of two binding staples. Light soiling across the top edge of front wrapper. Very good.
