New Ulm, Minnesota was the scene of some of the most desperate fighting of the Sioux Uprising of 1862. The author provides a well-researched account of the "story of the settlers' desperate attempts to reach New Ulm and Mankato and the noble, but unsuccessful attempt to rescue the survivors by the Leavenworth Rescue Expedition. Some rubbing to the wrappers, else a fine copy of an interesting history.
