Buffalo Bill first took his Wild West Show to England in 1887. This very scarce and attractive image was taken in England in 1887. A handsome image, in very sharp focus, with Cody in full show regalia including fringed buckskin jacket, his trademark oversized belt buckle, leather hip riding cavalry boots, and posing with his Winchester rifle. Provenance: "From a family whose relatives witnessed a "private invitation performance" of the show on December 17,1887, at Manchester Race Course." Exceptionally clean, bright, unfaded image. Preserved by the family, framed between two pieces of glass with a nicely-carved frame, 12" x 14.25." Near Fine.
