Publication: Univ of Oklahoma Press, 1943, Norman

First edition. 8vo. Inscribed on the front free fly leaf "For the Library of J. C. Dykes by J. Evetts Haley, Nov. 10, 1943." Below Haley's inscription appears "With the best wishes of H. D. Bugbee." Cloth, xiv, 287 pp., "To Whom the Credit," illustrated, index. Illustrated by Harold Bugbee. An outstanding biography of an important early Texas cattleman. "Another good biography of a well-known Texas cattleman with information on various outlaws and Billy The Kid's visit to the Texas Panhandle."--Ramon Adams. Littlefield rode with Terry's Texas Rangers, was a cowboy, trail driver, rancher, and later big rancher, banker and philantropist. He was an important giver to the University of Texas, financing buildings, and more importantly, library collections. Laid-in are two typed letters to Dykes signed by Haley plus a political cartoon clipped from a newspaper. Very good tight copy in internally reinforced dust jacket with light wear to the spine ends and spine panel, a crease to lower portion of rear cover, and a small chip to top edge of front cover.
