First edition of this nicely executed post-War land promotional and souvenir brochure for El Paso, Texas featuring the cover artwork of Tom Lea. 8vo. 9 1/4" x 8" color brochure that folds to 9 1/4" x 4." Shown are views of El Paso, old mission churches, Elephant Butte dam, rodeo activities, Big Bend National Park, scenes in northern Mexico, etc. Also there is a 4" x 5" map of principal highways and railroads leading into El Paso. The cover art is by Tom Lea who is a resident of El Paso. The El Paso Sunland Club was first organized by Hugh H. Gray in 1945 at the end of World War II to place magazine advertisements and circulating thousands of pamphlets, and sponsoring radio programs to attract visitors to El Paso. Tom Lea (1907-2001) was well-known not only for his murals and artwork in courthouses and post offices in Texas, but also for his many novels. His novels include "The Brave Bulls" and "The Wonderful Country," plus experiences as a wartime correspondent, books about the range and cattle industry, and much, much more. Light wear to the spine fold crease else a very good copy.
